Primary Care

By popular demand, we are now offering primary care to the first 250 patients who sign up through our office. Participants should have had a comprehensive optimal health physical at the Optimal Health Center within the prior two years to qualify.

Joining Our Program Will Include the Following Services, Free of Charge:

1. Open phone and e-mail access to our office to answer your medical questions from our medical team. Either Dr. Masley or appropriate staff will respond as appropriate between 8:30 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday.
2. Up to four 30-minute visits per year with OHC per year (either by phone or in person at your discretion). We reserve the right to charge our standard office fee for visits that exceed four visits per year.
3. If you require a medical consultation with another physician regarding a serious health issue, Dr. Masley will speak to your physician to ensure continuity of care is optimized.
4. If you are hospitalized, Dr. Masley will speak to you and your attending physician to help coordinate your medical care.
5. If you request an insurance form at the time of your visit to submit for reimbursement, we will send you an appropriate form by the next business day to expedite any reimbursement you are due.
6. Same day or next day appointment access will be provided for acute care needs. We will have 8:15 am and 5:45 clinic appointments daily, noon phone consults, and additional appointments times as feasible. Most acute appointments would be offered first thing in the morning or at the end of the day.
7. Medication refills will be handled timely within our office provided you have had a medical office visit related to that medication within the prior year.
8. We provide you with a thumb drive of your medical records, much like acces to print a copy of your bank account, in case you need access to your medical records. This will also provide you with access to your recent laboratory or imaging test results.
9. Your optimal health care maintenance will be followed in our office and you will be notified when any recommended testing becomes due. This will include screening tests (e.g., blood work, mammograms, eye exams, and carotid IMT testing), plus immunization updates.
10. Third world travel recommendations will be provided using the up to date Center for Disease Control recommendations. Immunization for travel usually requires at least 2-4 weeks notice.

Insurance Reimbursement Policies:

Upon request, you will receive within 1-2 business day an insurance submission form to seek reimbursement for each visit; we can not provide a form for the full $1,200 for medical services until they are received. In contrast to a comprehensive optimal health physical which many insurance companies find preventative and thus may not be covered, most clinic visits regarding follow up for cholesterol, blood pressure, or hypertension, or for acute illness should be covered by your medical insurance.

Importantly, you would need some provision to see an “out-of-network-physician” to have a good chance of reimbursement using our office. As most insurance companies allow for a 10-12 minute office visit and our shortest visit is normally 30 minutes, our charges may be slightly higher than the standard allowed by insurance. Thus, if you have office visits, some of your annual fee and laboratory charges may be reimbursed.

What This Offer Doesn’t Include:

1. Our office is not equipped or staffed to provide true emergency care, hence medical emergencies as determined by our staff will need to be seen at a facility providing emergency care. OHC services include most minor illnesses and injuries seen in a standard primary care office, which do not require casting, x-rays, suturing, or stat laboratory services.
2. As our office prides itself upon seeing you in an on-time fashion (if not two minutes early), patients with pre-scheduled appoints will be seen on time and we will aim to accommodate add-on, same day acute care appointments around our established visits. If a visit is truly emergent and can’t wait until our a next available visit time (most often within 24 hours if needed), then these patients would need to be seen at a facility providing emergency care using your medical insurance for payment and we could then arrange proper follow up with Dr. Masley.
3. Dr. Masley does not provide in-patient hospital care. In the event you are admitted to the hospital, we recommend using a hospitalist model of care (a full-time physician working exclusively in the hospital manages your care) This system works extremely well in the hospital setting provided the primary care physician speaks directly to the hospitalized patient and the hospital consultant.
4. Our OHC primary care is intended primarily for age management issues during regular office hours and does not guarantee after hours care, unless arranged on a case by case basis. Our office hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. In order to see patients on time, all office visits and phone visits will require an advance appointment. Visits outside of normal office hours will be arranged on a case by case basis.
5. Optimal health physicals are not included in the primary care package; however, OHC Primary Care Participants will receive a 5% discount on all comprehensive physicals provided through our center.
6. In the event Dr. Masley is unavailable (out of town for more than 1-2 days at a time) you can speak to our nursing team or we will arrange a consultation with Anne Hermann, MD at no charge to you if you are within your four visit per year allowance. Dr. Hermann has worked with Dr. Masley previously during his book tour and is also a board certified physician, nutritionist, and acupuncturist.
